About Silver Dragon Ranch

Our Journey

From City Life to Rural Blessings

Hello Everyone!

This is the Silver Dragon Ranch Newsletter. Here we will be talking about life on the ranch, new recipes we are trying and much more. Let's introduce the family first!

The head of the family is Eric. He is hard worker and helps with all of the manual labor on the ranch. With his engineering skills we are able to make the most out of every piece of material we have to work with. He is wonderful husband and loving father to all animals under his care. He has been quoted as saying that God has called him to raise this ranch and family here and when God calls him, he answers. He is a follower of God and will always tell you the story of how we all came to live on a ranch after living most of our lives in the suburbs.

Next is Durell. She is the mother to anyone and everyone who comes to stay at the ranch. She creates the products we sell and is head of the business. She is an incredible hard worker making this whole thing run starting in the morning with milking all of the goats. With the help of Sage she hand makes all products sold and works with local events to bring our lovely goats to. She is also a follower of God and goes and does what he asks of her. She takes care of every animal he puts in her car, whether its a stray dog that walks up and asks for a home to the wild deer she feeds on the property and keeps them safe from hunters.

Third is Gabrielle, me, the person writing this and I go by Sage with my friends. I help with all of the technical things that happen with the ranch. I work the social media side of things as well as the R&D looking for new combinations of scents for our products. I also make all the designs for everything as a freelance artist. I have made brand logos for different business and our own. I am also the one to design the business cards, stickers (coming soon), and design for the soap info. Anything that has any art on it is made by yours truly. I have just recently graduated with my Associates and will be going to University of Arkansas in the fall for Business Management and Marketing.

Lastly we have the lovely grandparents of the ranch Doug and Judy. They retired and came out to live on the ranch with the family to be closer to the grandkids. They also help out with labor on the farm including waking up early to milk everyday. Their favorite part of the ranch are the baby goats we get to hold and cuddle with. They help wherever and whenever they can on the ranch, including going out to events with the baby goats to show them off.

That's the brief summary of the family and if you ever want to know more or see the ranch for yourself, we also are happy to give FREE tours of the ranch. All you need to do is contact us and set and appointment time to come say hello! We are always welcome to having guests over and see the animals. Speaking of animals, we have a lot to talk about so let's get into it!

I know what everyone wants to come see first which are our adorable goats. They are Nigerian Dwarf Goats, meaning they don't get bigger than most dogs. We have them in many colors and size. We have male and female goats, separated for selective breeding purposes. You'll notice in the gallery a few of our older goats do not have horns and that is totally normal! They are known as Polled Goats and they are born without horns! many have asked us if that makes them good house pets and in my opinion it does, but it'll take a lot of work to house train them. Some are incredibly cuddly and loving, while some like to just love you from a distance, but as soon as you get their feed bucket out they come right up to say hello! Soon we will be doing Goat Yoga! The babies already love to climb on people so I'll have no problem with getting them to play along while I, Sage, teach. I am a certified yoga instructor, and we will soon be livestreaming the goat yoga so you can enjoy yoga at home with us.

We do have animals who guard our goats from those who would want to do them harm. What are these animals? Well Llamas of course! That might seem like a joke but its not. We really do have 4 guard llamas to watch over the goats. We have 3 females and 1 male. Our male's name is Kronk and boy does he love pictures! as soon as you get a camera out he will pose for you and loves selfies. He also loves to watch over the little baby goat when they are first born to make sure the mommas and babies are doing alright. Next we have Coco and Chanel, two of our lovely female llamas. They are sweet but prefer to watch over everyone from a distance, unless of course you have a feed bucket! They love to lay out in the pasture and nap, or roll around on their backs like very big puppies. It is quiet funny to watch. Our last llama is Yzma. She's older and watches over the male goats but prefers to keep to herself mostly. She is very sweet and has a silky coat unlike the others fluffy coats.

When you come to the ranch you'll notice we have lost of birds running around the grass. We have many free range chickens and a bird called Guineas. This is where we get our farm fresh eggs and natural tick repellent. The chickens lay the eggs and the guineas keep the land free of ticks by eating them! They both can get quiet loud so sleeping in is never an option for us. But since they are free range we have found eggs being laid in many interesting places around the ranch. It seems like its Easter almost everyday!

There are also 4 dogs that live on the property. Ryu and Duke live in the main house and Nugget and Tucker live with the grandparents. There are two house cats that live in the attached apartment named Shiro and Loki.  Many wild animals also live in the woods of the property and will sometimes come up to the feeders around the trees closer to the house.

That is Silver Dragon Ranch. there are many more stories to tell and many more still yet to happen. But when they do, I'll be here to tell them. Thank you so much for reading and we hope you all have a blessed and wonderful day!
